okay i admit it, sometimes my imagination gets the best of me, but like i always say "trust your crazy ideas". when i was designing my seasonal grungeboard pack (which many of you have from the 12 tags of christmas), i wanted to incorporate a variety of seasons in one pack. i thought i would share an easter tag with all of you - i know it might seem a little late since easter is this sunday, but if you're like me, that's still 2 more days to figure something out - right? so i've decided to use my favorite grungeboard shape. the one that most people ask "what is that?" - well look close and you'll see what i saw! of course i could have stuck with a traditional easter motif when i was designing, but let's face it, i'm not traditional - or normal for that matter. i had a more eclectic vision for easter shapes, what makes me think of easter most...candy! so in the seasonal grungeboard pack on the sheet with the hearts and cupid are 2 chocolate bunnies complete with bows! for those of you who've been asking for another step out tutorial, here you go: check out this simple, sparkly, yet totally distressed easter tag that looks good enough to eat. hopefully you'll take some time this weekend to create one - even if it's just for you...t!m
supplies: craft sheet, distress inks/walnut stain, worn lipstick, broken china, peeled paint, spiced marmalade, dusty concord, vintage photo, scattered straw, distress stickles/walnut stain, worn lipstick, ink blending tool, mini inky roller, glossy accents, archival ink/jet black (ranger); grungeboard seasonal, tiny attacher (tim holtz idea-ology); grunge alpha stamp (stampers anonymous); paper distresser (tonic); mini dot n' go (glue dots); #8 manila tag, ribbon, dymo, foam tape step 1: remove grungeboard bunny and bow shapes from grungeboard seasonal set. (there's even a mini bunny & funky chicken!)
step 2: ink bunny with walnut stain distress ink using ink blending tool.
step 3: apply walnut stain distress stickles over inked grunge by squirting out a blob.
step 4: spread out with your finger. i know it looks lumpy right now, but it will self level once the glue dries *distress stickles are chunky, pearly, glitter glues that look like sugary glass crystals when they dry. they are even inkable after they dry too - i love these things! so easy to create that nostalgic sparkle of crushed glass.
step 5: ink grunge bow with worn lipstick using ink blending tool.
step 6: apply worn lipstick distress stickles over inked grunge and spread out with your finger. allow these to dry.
step 7: for distressed plaid begin by rolling inky roller over your first color of distress ink - it's important to only ink up PART of the brayer to create various widths of ink. *be sure to roll and lift to ink up the brayer all the way around.
step 8: begin at one end of the tag and roll ink from end to end.
step 9: ink up roller again and this time roll a strip in the opposite direction.
step 10: repeat for additional colors being sure that each time you ink up the roller you ink up a different width of color. *do not use the darkest color for these stripes.
step 11: continue rolling colors on tag going in horizontal and vertical directions. *note: your stripes do not have to be straight - the more distressed the better.
step 12: once you're happy with several passes and colors, create darker accent lines in your plaid by inking a thin stripe of the darkest color. i used dusty concord for this.
step 13: roll on dark thin stripes in both directions. sometimes i create more than 2 lines of this darkest color.
step 14: ink edges of tag with distress ink using ink blending tool.
step 15: drag paper distresser along edge of inked tag to create a tattered tag - cool!
step 16: stamp the grunge alpha on to another tag or cardstock with jet black archival and stamp the letters you want for your word. *note: sometimes you have to stamp the same row twice.
step 17: cut out letters you will use.
step 18: ink edges of each cut letter with distress ink using ink blending tool.
step 19: attach to tag with mini glue dots to create letter tiles. (what a great use for this stamp!)
step 20: create word "happy" with dymo.
step 21: remove back and adhere to tag. accent with tiny attacher and trim ends of dymo.
step 22: if stickles are not dry yet, you can finish drying with a heat tool - that's right, you can HEAT distress stickles and they won't blister like regular stickles! let cool.
step 23: apply foam tape to back of grunge bunny.
step 24: attach to tag creating a dimensional raised look.
step 25: apply small amount of glossy accents to back of grunge bow.
step 26: adhere to neck of bunny.
bonus: check out the shimmer of those distress stickles! looks like sugar to me....let's face it, martha would be proud!

My favorite Easter candy is peanut butter eggs. I used to wait all year just to get the 3 that I knew would be in my basket. I would even trade my sister for hers (pretty much all of the rest of my candy!)
