well bloggers this weekend was definitely a festive one! thank you to everyone at stampers corner and the wonderful students for sharing in a creative holiday weekend. we arrived on friday afternoon and started setting up the room for the weekend. the "elves" at stampers corner were already hard at work setting up the products, decorating with a touch of the holiday season complete with bows, baskets, treats, and candy canes scattered across all of the tables. with so much to unpack for these jam-packed workshops we spent the rest of the day through the evening getting everything ready.
the following morning we arrived (with starbucks in hand) to a line of very eager students! i'm telling you, every detail was taken care of for this event including custom name badges (created by the talented richele), a gift wrapped front door, and holiday tunes once again filling the air. we started our first project which was a holiday journal called "seasonal memoirs". this book was inspired from my cruise journal where students learned about creating a drop-spine book using the cinch which included my seasonal paper stash, seasonal salvage stickers, and seasonal tissue tape. the cover was adorned with vintage holiday elements, hand glittered paper rosettes, metal corners, curio knob, and my new accoutrements. there was so much packed into this project that students left with a stash of tags, rub-ons, and trims to add to this journal throughout the holiday season...
after a quick break we were set for the second workshop of the day called "festive creative blocks". this was a seasonal spin-off from the creative blocks i've been teaching this year. this class was packed with techniques including beeswax collage, distressing with paints, and dusting with vintage mica. the projects were simply incredible and the variation of this project from students was so inspiring. after the flurry of sparkly mica settled and we got all cleaned up, we called it a night and headed off to dinner...
the next morning we awoke to a very rainy day which i just loved! the skies were grey and it definitely felt more wintery - the perfect setting for our final workshop "holiday configurations of your imagination". students learned all the tips and tricks to creating their own custom configurations shadow box and were treated with all the fixings to create their own creation of holiday bliss! vintage glittered trees, mini ornaments, bells, birdcages, blocks, lights, and more. i shared a very clever way to create faux printers blocks in the box (yep, the letters for joy are nothing more than grungeboard, chipboard, and a little distressing magic), as well as accenting elements with vintage silvered glitter and vintage mica snow. talk about an amazing group of talented students - each box was just incredible. speaking of an incredible project, check out this cool project from one of my design team wendy vecchi...
so we wrapped up the final workshop (and a first for me) we actually packed everything up and headed to the airport to fly home that night! talk about a whirlwind weekend - i loved it. so thank you again stampers corner and to my students for adding a little more holiday magic to my world...t!m
